About the Railcar

What the heck is that?

That is the question we get most often when people see our railcar 007 for the first time. We explain that this is how Dan, his Dad Harvey, and sister Adrianne participate in their unique hobby – railspeeding. As members of the North American Rail Car Operators Association (NARCOA), we operate this historic railcar on active railroads during organized excursions.

Our Beginning

What do you do when a train set just is not enough?

If you enjoyed trains as a child – maybe you even built a layout, as Dan did – this hobby is the natural thing to do when you grow up. In summer 2006, Dan's folks discovered a NARCOA excursion and were hooked. By that fall, they found and brought home Railcar 007.

Dan and Harvey passed certification tests that winter and began excursions in spring 2007. Their first run included mentoring and started a long stretch of cross-country adventures. In 2010, Dan's sister Adrianne became certified and joined the fun.

Tootsie Rolls

A tradition began of handing out candy to children along the tracks. Wave at Railcar 007 and you may get a treat!
